My Journey of Embodied Movement

My journey began in primary school when my teacher invited my friends and me to learn Sanskrit after class. Though I didn’t fully grasp her invitation, something deep within me instinctively said “YES.” I embraced the language for a few months, but life took me on different paths. In Year 3, I also began my journey as a dancer, igniting my passion for movement. By middle school, I was teaching traditional dance to my juniors, nurturing my love for sharing the art of expression.

In 2017, asana yoga found me anew when I moved to Australia. As a passionate movement lover, I sought activities that resonated with my spirit. The moment I stepped onto my mat for a Vinyasa yoga class, I felt an undeniable sense of homecoming. The flow, the breath, and the connection to my body ignited a spark within me.

Then, in 2018, Bhakti Yoga entered my life through kirtan at a local studio. Drawn to the community it fostered, I immersed myself in the mantras and melodies. Though I initially had no idea what kirtan was, my soul danced with exhilaration as waves of love bubbled up from my heart and stomach. I craved more and began to learn the mantras, rediscovering the Sanskrit I had once studied. Each chant filled my spirit to overflowing.

In early 2020, I took a leap of faith and enrolled in my first 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with Warrior One. Since then, my thirst for knowledge has only deepened. I’ve studied with esteemed teachers, completing 50 hours of Yin and Hatha Yoga with Arron Petty, 135 hours of pre/post-natal yoga with Australian Yoga Academy and Island Prenatal Yoga, and 200 hours of Hatha Yoga with OM SOM, guided by incredible mentors like Heidi Trigar, Belinda O’Dea, and Ami Effendy. Countless workshops, self-study, and daily practice have nurtured my ever-growing passion for learning.

However, by the end of 2021, life introduced a new chapter marked by injury, prompting me to modify my movement. This was when Pilates gracefully entered my life. I began with Clinical Pilates and quickly fell in love with how my physical body began to heal. This curiosity led me to pursue Pilates Mat and Reformer Teacher Training in 2022 with Unite Health. To further support my clients, I deepened my knowledge with Clinical Pilates training and Pre and Post-Natal training in 2023, allowing me to work with a diverse range of clients—helping them achieve fitness goals, recover from injuries, or navigate the journey of motherhood.

Through this exploration, I discovered the beauty of conscious movement and meditation. I’ve woven together yoga, Yin, Pilates, and mindful meditation to create a harmonious practice. I flow through Vinyasa to ignite energy, find stillness in Yin, build stability and strength with Pilates, and ground myself through meditation. In this blend, I’ve uncovered a profound balance—both within and without.

“Change happens through movement, and movement heals.” —Joseph Pilates

As I continue to embrace the rhythms of my body and the cycles of life, I invite you to join me on this sacred journey. Together, let’s awaken to the transformative power of movement, the serenity of meditation, and the deep wisdom of our cycles.
